1-K Mangrove propagules planted in the coastal Barangay of Pagadian City


PAGADIAN CITY (Nov. 5, 2014) --- A total of 1 thousand mangrove propagules were planted by the Barangay Officials of Brgy. Sto. Niño this city together with some members of the Pagadian City Police Station during their weeklong Barangay 30th Foundation Day Tuesday morning.

The planting of one thousand mangrove propagules also participated by 16 Purok Officials and barangay workers was held at the nearby coastal area of Brgy. Poloyagan this city as part of the series of activities of Barangay Sto. Niño, Barangay Official said.


This year’s theme celebration “Panaghiusa sa tanan ug giya sa kahitas-an makab-ot and kalambuan” kick-off their ceremony on Monday through the clean-up in their entire barangay and at the same time start of their sport fest activities that will culminate on Nov. 11 through the Economical Mass followed by the motorcade and the grand raffles in the afternoon.

Barangay Sto Niño Chairman Dominador Yocogo, Jr. led the planting of Mangrove said Wednesday that they don’t have area where to plant trees in their barangay that is the reason they decided of choosing the coastal area of Brgy. Poloyagan for mangrove plantation as recommended and identified as protected area for mangrove conservation by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).

“Every Barangay Foundation Anniversary we are planting trees and last 2013 we planted 300 Mahogany seedlings at the Pagadian City Water District Watershed area in Barangay Danlugan,” Yocogo said.   


Pagadian City Police Chief Supt. Glenn Dulawan had expressed his gratitude to the Officials of Barangay Sto Niño for the invitation given to the members of City Police for joining their Barangay Founder’s Day celebration activities especially during the mangrove planting.

SPO2 Josette Naciongayo who represented the City Police led during the planting of mangrove propagules last Tuesday morning as part of the PNP community assistance and development on environmental protection, Dulawan said. (JC-MPF NEWS)
